How Life Cycle Thinking is Boosting a Brazilian Cosmetics Firm

    Brazil’s NATURA cosmetics firm has had sustainability at the centre of its business strategy for 40 years but recently the company has moved forward with applying Life Cycle thinking across its value chain.

    The company says it now “considers the complete life cycle of products, starting from raw materials extraction, through the industrial production stage, distribution, use and disposal. This cradle to grave approach made the company an ideal candidate for road testing an Organizational Life Cycle Assessment methodology (O-LCA), and the company joined as a tester of this metholdogy in 2015 reported on all 10 cosmetic product types sold in its domestic Brazilian market during the reference period (2013).
