Using LCA to study food production-related emissions 

    The projected rise in food-related greenhouse gas emissions could seriously impede efforts to limit global warming to acceptable levels. Despite that, food production and consumption have long been excluded from climate policies. The recently published paper Mitigation Potential and Global Health Impacts from Emissions Pricing of Food Commodities discusses ideas to mitigate risk associated with food production.     Tool calculates building's energy efficiency through first 60 years of life

    A new modelling platform can create scenarios designed to show the environmental impact of retrofitted buildings. It also helps calculate the expected reductions in energy consumption and the related costs of refurbishing. Read more here.

    Indonesian LCA Network launches its e-journal

    IJoLCAS (Indonesian Journal of Life Cycle Assessment and Sustainability) is a peer-reviewed journal covering studies in the areas of LCA and closely related methods to assess sustainability. It aims to support global sustainable development with emphasize on the cases of Indonesia, Asia, and surrounding regions. The first issue of IJoLCAS is now available for download here.

    Leadership change for LCA committee at ISO

    Dr Peter Saling has been appointed president of the SC5 Life Cycle Assessment Group, the committee that developed the LCA standards ISO 14040 and 14044 and the water footprint standard ISO 14046. He is joined by new vice-chair Dr Nydia Suppen-Reynaga and new secretary Mr. Jean-Charles Michaud. Currently, the SC5 is preparing for an update of LCA standards ISO 14040 and 14044.     Thinkstep announces upgrade to LCI Databases

    Thinkstep, a global leader in sustainability performance management software, data and services, recently announced the availability of its GaBi Databases 2017 Edition, the latest update to the world's leading Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) Data. The newly-released product extends coverage to include regionalization of water assessment data, land use flows and quantities, hazardous and municipal waste treatment datasets, electricity and fuel data for more countries and regions worldwide, EPDs (Environmental Product Declarations) and a wide range of new industry association data.

    Dulux releases declaration on the environmental impact of paint
