NZ Government responds to the ‘Rethinking plastics’ report
The “Rethinking Plastics in Aotearoa New Zealand” report was published in December 2019. The government has recently responded to this report with plans to phase out seven single-use plastic items and some hard-to-recycle plastic products. It is also committing to develop a plastics research agenda, sustainable use guidelines for government agencies, and provide support for businesses, organisations and communities to take action. The public is invited to respond to these plans with submissions up to 4th November 2020.
LCANZ plans to prepare a submission on behalf of its members – watch this space.
