REC Solar Norway AS receives certification for EPDs for silicon and multicrystalline blocks for use in solar cells
REC Solar Norway AS, a subsidiary of the international pioneering solar energy company REC Group, today announces that EPD Norway has approved and published Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for solar grade silicon and for multicrystalline silicon blocks made by REC. REC Solar Norway produces high purity silicon for use in solar cells, using a unique metallurgical purification method that consumes upwards of 75% less energy than typically competing processes, e.g., the Siemens process as used by the majority of the industry players, mainly in China.
