LCANZ AGM 2025
Thursday 25, September 2025
Please join us for this year’s LCANZ AGM, followed by member presentations and networking on Thursday 25th September 2025.
- The AGM is open to both members and non-members.
- In addition to the AGM, we are excited to hold presentations from our members, on carbon in the structural materials space, energy and agriculture LCA studies!
- The AGM will be a mixed online and in-person event, to support networking while reducing the need to travel:
- Our venue capacity is limited to 50 people, so please register early to avoid disappointment. In-person registration will close at 5pm on Friday 18th September, or when capacity has been reached.
- Online capacity (via Teams) is unlimited and registrations will close at 10am on Thursday 25th September.
- If you register to attend in person and change your mind, please let us know so that we can make your place available to others.
- The AGM notice, call for nominations and 2024 AGM meeting minutes will be released closer to the AGM date.
- We will also be contacting members soon regarding our new constitution as required under the Incorporated Societies Act 2022.
We look forward to seeing you at the AGM!

Member Presentations
Ben Cannon from LT McGuinness will give a presentation on ‘Beyond Design: Reducing Carbon in Structural Materials through the Supply Chain’ where he’ll talk about a parliament project and the reductions they managed to achieve with concrete, steel and timber by working closely with their supply chain, as well as discuss the other opportunities that can be investigated in future projects.
Professor Alan Brent will give a presentation on ‘Life cycle assessment of a virtual power plant: Evaluating the environmental performance of a system utilising solar photovoltaic generation and batteries‘, where he’ll discuss the use of comprehensive LCA to evaluate the greenhouse gas emissions profile of a VPP, and discuss how surplus solar energy could feed back into to significantly offset emissions.
Professor Sarah McLaren from Massey University will also give a presentation on ‘Trees on Dairy Pastureland – A Win-Win for Climate Change Mitigation?’ discussing the analysis of the potential opportunities to reduce the carbon footprint of milk through low-density tree planting on dairy pasture land. She’ll discuss the use of both static and dynamic LCA in order to develop a better understanding of the biogenic carbon sequestration and how it tracks over time.
