LCA & LCM PHD Scholarship Opportunities at Massey

The newly formed New Zealand Life Cycle Management Centre (NZLCM Centre) is offering four exciting opportunities to outstanding candidates with research interests in Life Cycle Management. You will study for a PhD at Massey University in association with a Crown Research Institute (AgResearch, Landcare Research, Scion Research or Plant & Food Research (PFR)), and be funded through a Massey University scholarship for three years of study (including fees and a tax-exempt stipend of $25,000 per annum).

The PFR student is already in place, and the other three scholarships will begin in February 2011. Applications are invited from candidates with interests in integration of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) with other tools to support effective decision-making on alternative uses of land. Topics of interest include: biodiversity, carbon and water management, dairy intensification, marginal land use, and optimal resource use.

You will have studied natural/physical sciences or engineering, and have a Master’s or four year Honours degree (minimum 2:1 Honours, or a B+ overall average).  You will have outstanding communication skills, an appreciation of perspectives other than your own disciplinary ones, and have the initiative and drive to complete your studies in three years.

To receive an application form, please email your contact details to Kate Saxton k.r.saxton@massey.ac.nz

More details on the NZLCM Centre are available at: http://lcm.org.nz/

Applications for the PhD scholarships will close on 31st October 2010.
