Greenwaste Compost Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Carbon Sequestration. Methodology and NZ Emission Factors

A literature review determined the default and upper and lower range of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (and primary energy) from greenwaste windrow commercial compost production, transport, and field emissions.  Being LCA based the system boundary included a credit for avoided landfill CH4 emissions and a debit for forgone landfill carbon sequestration.  These variables had the two biggest impacts.  The results are being reviewed and so have not yet been made public.
